The Fifth Annual Tea Thyme in the Garden is being held July 13th, 2008 in the Display Garden on Suncrest. This fabulous and very popular tea requires tickets and reservations in advance. The ticket price of $15.00 includes tea and refreshments, and a tour of the Display Garden at Suncrest. Two seatings are planned, 12:30 and 3:30 pm.Proceeds from the tea benefit the Lapeer County Master Gardeners Display Garden on Suncrest, which is on the grounds of the Lapeer County Medical Care facility, 1455 Suncrest Drive, Lapeer. This beautiful garden is open to the public at no charge from dawn to dusk during the summer. Space at the tea is limited and it is best to purchase tickets early. Summer Camps
Lapeer County 4-H has a new twist to camp this year. We are adding a 1-Day Camp for kids, ages 5-7, who have completed kindergarten or 1st grade as of July 1, 1008.
The Day Camp will be held Tuesday, July 15th.
Our theme this year is Tropical Paradise, and the kids will be learning about rainforests, as well as enjoying crafts, swimming and boating, songs and games and good times around the campfire. Sound fun? I can still use some adult volunteers to help as activity leaders or day chaperones for either camp. Call the M.S.U. Extension office, 810/667-0343 for a registration form, to volunteer, or for more information. Space is limited, so don’t wait!American Legion Euchre 6 PM.

Lapeer County Michigan State University Extension is offering “ServSafe Training.” The ServSafe program was developed by the National Restaurant Association. A recertification class will be offered Monday, July 28, 2008 from 8:00AM – 5:00PM. The fee is $120.00. This 8-hour class is designed to help those food service managers whose certification needs to be renewed. Review will cover purchasing and receiving from approved services; storage; preventing food borne illnesses; employee personal hygiene; and HACCP. The last hour of the class will be the exam.
