My name is Sallie Morey and baking has been my thing for as long as I can remember. New ideas have always been a joyful challenge. When my best friend shared the idea of a “cake ball” with me in February 2010, I had to try it. A little research and a late-night baking session ended with marvelous morsels of deliciousness and it was love at first bite.
As a mother of four, I’ve done my share of baking over the years — for school, scouting, church, and family events. I was always on a search for something new and unique to share. When I started bringing new flavors of my cake balls to these events, I was continuously being encouraged to start taking orders and sharing these beautiful, “deliciously evil” treats. Thus, was born Sallie’s Sweet Treats.
The creative side of me saw endless possibilities for making an ordinary event into a spectacular one through the customization of flavors and colors. This has driven me to experiment with new flavor combinations and techniques so that I can make the best cake balls possible.
In February 2011, I was able to start my business out of my home kitchen under the parameters of the Michigan Cottage Food Law of 2010. I am enjoying the experience of having my own business and looking forward to what lies ahead for Sallie’s Sweet Treats. In the past year, we have expanded our menu to include other specialty desserts such as sugar cookies, gourmet brownies, tarts, bars, hot cocoa bombs, and small cakes. Yummy!
